Volunteers at the Paraguay Museum Night: A transformative experience for students

Every year, Museum Night in Paraguay becomes a celebration of art, history, and culture, where the hearts of participating cities beat to the same rhythm.

But behind every tour and every unforgettable night for the public, there is a dedicated team: the Paraguay Museum Night volunteers, students who make this vibrant day possible.

Much more than volunteering: an experience with a purpose

The participation of students from the Faculty of Architecture, Design, and Arts (FADA), Faculty of Polytechnics, University of Itapúa UNI and UNE is not simply a volunteer program open to the public. It is an academic activity that transcends theory and takes place in the real world. Only those who are part of the FADA and the other universities menctioned above communities can participate, strengthening the link between university education and the cultural, artistic, and museum fields.

Furthermore, the Paraguay Museum Night Association has forged alliances with other educational institutions, such as the Instituto Superior de la Imagen (Higher Institute of Image), whose students collaborate by photographing the events. And if that weren’t enough, this year new institutions joined the project, expanding its reach and diversity of perspectives.

Connections Born in One Night

Some of the participating volunteers have already shared classes or projects, but many meet for the first time during the event. What is certain is that, by the end of the evening, new bonds have been formed thanks to the empathy, coordination, and teamwork required by the event.

Volunteer Organization and Training

Upon registration, volunteers for the Paraguay Museum Night program are assigned to specific areas such as museums, buses, logistics, or communications. Each group receives key information and participates in in-person, hybrid, or virtual training sessions. Volunteer manuals, volunteer kits, and, new this year, summaries of museum collections and routes are also provided, enabling them to perform their work in a more professional and optimal manner.

This preparation ensures that each student arrives at the event equipped to perform their role with confidence and commitment.

Many volunteers repeat the experience, even when they no longer need to earn academic credits. Some do so to collaborate in new areas and experience the Night from a different perspective. Others simply because they discovered a calling or an interest they didn’t know they had.
